Mrs McKeeWhat made you get into teaching?
I went to a really small secondary school, were there were less than 200 pupils. I always remember school as a fun place to be and a place were everyone knew each other. The teacher who inspired me the most was my Home Economics teacher, Linda Ellis. Linda now works in Lagan College, so I still get to see her at Home Economics events. When you were younger what did you dream of being or doing as a job? I remember wanting to be a nurse for a long time. If you could do any job in the world, what would it be? I couldn't choose between a mystery shopper, caretaker of a paradise island or a sweetie taster. Lucky I am happy enough being a teacher and a mum. If you were a piece of food what would you be, and why? A mango - tough skinned.....but sweet and soft on the inside! Custard or cream? Custard City or countryside? Countryside Christmas or Summer? Summer Favourite quotation: Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. Albert Einstein |
Miss GarrettWhat made you get into teaching?
Before coming into teaching I had the opportunity to work in outdoor education. This helped me to decide that teaching was for me, but Im not a huge fan of the rain. So..... by teaching Home Economics I found I could satisy another key interest - food and stay indoors during the nasty winter months and remain active in the outdoors during the lovely sunny days of the summer participating in sports such as sailing. When you were younger what did you dream of being or doing as a job? I remember wanting to be a physiotherapist and completed work experience with a physio department. If you could do any job in the world, what would it be? Obviously teaching is the best job in the world. But if I had to choose another, that would be easy, I would like to be the official taster of the Cadbury’s factory. If you were a piece of food what would you be, and why? 'I would be a passionfruit. This is a hardy fruit that thrives well under pressure, and I am also very passionate about what I do.' Custard or cream? Both, apple crumble would not be the same without a bit of both of them. City or countryside? Again I'm stuck in the middle on this one, but I'm most at home at the seaside so where does that fit in? Christmas or Summer? Christmas obviously for the dinner. Favourite quotation: Stressed is desserts spelt backwards. Anon |
